Event Holder

we heart aonb front coverHolding events showcases how special the AONB is and highlights why Staffordshire is a fantastic place to visit. That said, it’s vital we get the chance to work with organisers to help lessen the impact events may have on the AONB’s protected landscape, and to inspire visitors to take a closer look at their surroundings.

This is why we’ve put together the We ‘Heart’ Cannock Chase AONB event information pack. It gives a brief introduction to what an AONB is, how the AONB Partnership is working to balance a fantastic selection of events with the need to look after the landscape, along with a toolkit for event organisers, including a publicity section and the ‘Proud to Support Cannock Chase AONB’ artwork.

heart with cyclistAs Cannock Chase AONB is a protected area, it’s really important that anyone planning an event in the AONB considers how it might impact the area, and how to reduce any possible damage.

Taking pride in the landscape and working to look after it can be a selling point in any publicity.

There are a number of simple ways to promote careful use of the area by visitors. This includes adding information to event leaflets, posters, press releases and website listings.

Here are a few examples of possible wording that can be included on publicity either within a leaflet/programme/poster…

About Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
In England and Wales landscapes considered most valuable are designated as National Parks or Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs). These landscapes are protected by law and managed to maintain their special character for now and the future.

Cannock Chase is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (or AONB) because of its beautiful landscape, wildlife and history. There is considerable economic and recreational pressure on this landscape and the Cannock Chase AONB team works to make sure the right balance is struck to conserve and enhance the area, while maintaining it as a living, working environment.

Cannock Chase AONB is funded by Defra, Cannock Chase Council, Lichfield District Council, Stafford Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and South
Staffordshire Council.
